Trailers make transporting materials from one place to another much easier, and under most circumstances, they are safe so long as proper safety precautions are taken. However, some things are unsafe to transport in a trailer no matter what precautions are taken. Here is a list of items that you should never transport in a trailer, direct from the experts at Buyer RV.

1. Hazardous Materials

Hazardous materials such as chemicals, oil, gasoline, and propane should never be hauled in a trailer. Should these highly-flammable materials leak or spill, it can create a serious fire hazard. For similar reasons, you should not transport explosives in your trailer. Explosive materials are sometimes unstable and can be set off by the rocking of the trailer.

2. Large Animals

With the obvious exception of a horse trailer, most trailers are not equipped to safely transport a large animal like a horse or cow. Even if you stay within the weight limit, using a trailer not designed with the animal’s safety or comfort in mind is likely to result in injury or even death.

3. Sharp Objects

When transporting objects with sharp edges, make sure they are well secured and kept away from the wheels. This will help you avoid accidental tire punctures and other damage to the trailer.

4. Heavy Machinery

Heavy machineries such as tractors or front-end loaders should only be transported in a trailer designed for that purpose. Attempting to transport heavy equipment in the wrong type of trailer, even if you are within weight limits, is likely to lead to severe damage.
