RVs range in size from small enough to fit into a truck bed to so large that they are like houses on wheels. Larger RVs offer more room for passengers, storage, and amenities. However, smaller RVs are usually more economical and easier to transport. Boyer RV Center has created this guide to help you understand your options when it comes to RV size and how it can affect your purchasing decision.

Towable RV Sizes

Travel Trailers

Travel trailers are one of the most varied categories of RV, and this is reflected in their size. They can range from 4 to 40 feet, with the largest models able to accommodate up to eight travelers. Naturally, there is also a lot of variation when it comes to features, with some being more basic and others more luxurious.

Toy Haulers

Toy haulers are large RVs that possess a separate cargo bay, which is often used to transport powersports vehicles and other large items. They range from 21 to 40 feet in length, with room for up to eight people. Some owners choose to put down sleeping pads or cots in the cargo bay to convert it into additional passenger space, pushing the total count to eleven travelers.

Fifth Wheels

Fifth wheels have a special hitching system that allows them to be larger than other kinds of towable RVs, ranging from 20 to 40 feet. They boast a passenger capacity of up to eight travelers, with some of the best amenities among towable RVs.

Motorized RV Sizes

Class B Motorhomes

Class B motorhomes are built around van chassis. At 17 to 23 feet, they are the smallest type of motorhome. They tend to be more basic when it comes to amenities but are still large enough to house their own bathroom and dining space while accommodating up to six people.

Class C Motorhomes

Class C motorhomes are built around truck chassis and tend to be around 20 to 30 feet in length. These RVs can accommodate up to seven passengers, with many models placing sleeping accommodations above the cab to maximize space.

Class A Motorhomes

Class A Motorhomes are built around bus chassis. At 26 to 44 feet, they are generally the largest motorhomes on the market, with room for up to ten travelers. They offer some of the most luxurious amenities of all RVs, and in some cases can even tow other vehicles.
